Background

Established in 2008 as The International Forum and Leisure Break for Ophthalmologists, the Bali Ophthalmology Retreat (BIOR) is an annual event for Ophthalmologists offering the unique attractions, leisure activities and magic of Bali, combined with Powerful Interactive Workshop Sessions together with useful and practical Enlightening Personal Skills Tutorials. The event is designed as a valuable learning experience and networking forum as well as providing participants an opportunity to relax and unwind and enjoy Bali's unique pleasures.

The primary target market of BIOR is practicing Ophthalmologists in Asia. Established successful Ophthalmologists will appreciate an annual retreat that offers tranquility and recreation coupled with significant learning, in an exclusive and intimate environment of quality interaction and sharing with world expert speakers, leading corporate sponsors and counterparts from the region and worldwide.

Rather than lectures and symposiums, BIORs emphasis is instructive interactive workshops by world experts, where participants have ample opportunity to interact and ask questions in a relaxed setting. This is what differentiates BIOR from other large and formal meetings where the opportunity to interact with speakers and other delegates is limited.

In its few short years of existence, BIOR has already successfully established itself for quality, excellence, and professionalism attracting an outstanding line up of distinguished international expert speakers and panelists each year covering topics including External Eye Disease, Glaucoma, Vitreoretinal Surgery, Refractive and Cataract Surgery. The event has also attracted leading corporate sponsors each year.

Feedback from delegates has been extremely positive reflected by the high ratings and favorable write in comments received via Feedback Forms. Very high ratings for BIOR 2009 were achieved with 99% of respondents indicating we met or exceeded their expectations in both the relevance of the sessions and the quality of speakers. Similar excellent ratings were also achieved for the inaugural BIOR in 2008.

The Bali Ophthalmology Retreat offers a unique annual experience for Ophthalmologists to revitalize and refresh the mind and body - a combination of leisure and relaxation and powerful workshop sessions and enlightening personal skills tutorials exclusively for Ophthalmologists. BIOR is an opportunity for superior learning, recreation and tranquillity - dedicated to providing quiet social exchange between ophthalmologists in an exclusive environment of quality relaxation and Balinese Culture.
